This website provides online access to the Australian Stories as well as access to the raw data list of over 4200 Australian culture sector websites previously developed by the Culture Portal.
This website also provides links to the static Culture Portal archive site at PANDORA which is hosted by the National Library of Australia.

The Australian Stories povide information about Australian architecture and design, digital media and film, festivals, history, Indigenous culture, language and literature, performance, natural environment and heritage, and visual arts and crafts.
This collection of Australian Stories covers key educational themes and cultural activities, with links to online information including 'look, listen and play' websites. The Australian Stories are catalogued alphabetically and thematically.
The database seedlist has over 4,200 Australian culture websites. This database includes all Australian national, state and major regional cultural collecting institutions as well as non-government websites which were evaluated as significant to the culture sector. Users can browse the database seed list by category, audience or location.
The Culture Portal, previously known as the Culture and Recreation Portal, launched in June 2001, was developed from the platform of Australia's Cultural Network (ACN), available since 1997.
The Culture Portal and other Australian Government customer-focused websites or 'portals' formed the Customer Focussed Portals Framework, part of the Government Online Strategy. The eGovernment Strategy, 2006 had a vision for 2010 to meet users' needs, provide connected service delivery, value for money and increased public sector capability.
The website abides by agreed minimum accessibility and usability standards.
The website is an initiative of the Australian Government Department of the Environment, Water, Heritage and the Arts and is administered by the Australian Government Information Management Office.
